Cinnamon raisin walnut bread (2)
Tweaking the original recipe from a year ago, I made a loaf of cinnamon raisin walnut bread to take to my in-laws over the holidays.

Courgette loaf (2)
It dawned on me recently that even though I like courgette bread, I've only made it a couple of times and never without grain flour (the previous ones were with spelt). So I thought it would be fun to experiment with a wheat-free, grain-free loaf.

Apple compote
Ever since I started shopping more at my local butcher's, I'm eating more pork than ever and I've come to enjoy pork chops (though still not a fan of ham fillets). Lately I've been trying to think of new ways to cook or serve pork. While classic, plain applesauce isn't something I like all that much, perhaps because it reminds me too much of baby food. But inspired by the classic combination of pork and apples, I made an apple compote to go with the pan fried pork chops for dinner tonight.

Pumpkin flan
To complement the ham I served as the main dish for my winter dinner party, I made pumpkin flan, a nod to Thanksgiving that'd just passed. This was the first time I used pumpkin in a dessert and the first time I made flan. Both worked out well.

Spiced apple streusel muffins
After making the spiced apple galette, I had three Granny Smith apples leftover. Not wanting to make another galette so soon, I used the leftover apples to make applesauce.
The applesauce had been sitting in the fridge for a few days. I was worried that it would turn, so I flipped through the Wheat Belly 30-Minute Cookbook to see what I could do with it. I came across a recipe for apple streusel muffins. After checking I had everything (yay!) in the pantry, I got to working.

Spiced apple galette
It had been a while since I made a cake or pie, so when I got some sweet, tangy, juicy Granny Smith and Jazz apples, I immediately got to making a spiced apple galette.

Cinnamon raisin walnut bread (1)
Ever since I made the basic walnut bread, I'd been itching to try making a variation using cinnamon, raisins, and walnuts. And after a trip to Holland & Barrett to pick up a few missing ingredients, I got to working.

Lamb vindaloo
After a visit to Asia Market and sourcing lots of wonderful spices and herbs, I decided to make curry from scratch for the first time. I was able to find lamb stew meat at the butcher's, so I went for a lamb vindaloo. Again, my mini chopper proved to be a terrific buy.

Spiced banana cake with coconut cinnamon frosting
Whenever there are super ripe bananas at home, I tend to make banana bread. But this time I decided to mix things up and use them to make a spiced banana cake. This is an impromptu recipe so no doubt tweaking is required.

Cinnamon-filled biscotti
One of my favourite coffee accompaniments is biscotti even though I rarely get it nor have I tried making it. Since going wheat free, I haven't had any as the commercially available ones are made from plain flour. Last night, I finally got into the mood of making some at home.

Pots de crème au chocolat et thé Earl Grey
I've made chocolate pots a couple of times before for Valentine's Day (or night, rather) but not for the last few years. So I thought this year would be a good time to bring them back, with a few tweaks no less.
